Welcome Pure Detroit in Cobo Center

Feb 19, 2018

Pure Detroit opened downtown nearly 20 years ago, as an original local culture and authentic Detroit apparel shop. Its sixth brick-&-mortar shop opened in Cobo Center in January, just in time for the  2018 North American International Auto Show.

The shop has received nothing but rave reviews.

"Cobo Center has an extraordinary legacy as a gathering place,” said Kevin Borsay, a Pure Detroit partner. “It's been crazy. We're trying to power through the auto show to catch our breaths and make a game plan."

The 1,000 square-foot store occupies the retail space on the first floor of Cobo Center,  and serves meeting and exhibit attendees by offering a full range of Detroit-centric products.

Local artists were commissioned to incorporate their work in the shop's design, adding to the growing Cobo art collection. The shop provides a touching point for residents and visitors to the city for Detroit's rich history and contemporary culture.

Pure Detroit in Cobo Center is tailoring locally made products that reflect the shows taking place at Cobo. The shop sells apparel, books, glassware, guitar picks, barber supplies, jewelry, candles and handbags. Many of the items are made by local artisans of reclaimed wood and materials from demolished houses in Detroit.

Claude Molinari, general manager of Cobo Center, added. “It is another big step in making our customers feel that Cobo is ‘centered around you,’ and immersing them in our mission to deliver outstanding event experiences.”
